“Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous.”
- Bill Moyers
I often came across people who displayed a childlike curiosity, enthusiasm and wonder that seemed both charmingly innocent and a bit out of place. A bit irritating, even. As if they were not fully acknowledging the concerns of everyday life. They were somehow able to find something truly extraordinary and beautiful and awe-inspiring in the most ordinary and mundane and commonplace events. It puzzled me no end until I came across these words - touched by the world but not wounded by it.
This changed my perspective – in life and as an artist.
I have been on a personal quest to find beauty that lies in the mundaneness around us. As a designer the challenge to appreciate this beauty has been my biggest leap in creative maturity.
